Extra precautions you will need to take if you are adopting hybrid working

The world of working is changing – rather than the workforce going to a place of work five days a week, it is more a case of working remotely from home or using a mixture of the two which, as you probably know, is referred to as hybrid working.

This does have bonuses for the employee as well as the employer. The employee does not have to sit in rush hour traffic each day and gets to spend a few days a week working in the comfort of their own home, and the employer can opt to downsize their business premises or take on additional employees without relocating due to workforce size. There are, of course, many other advantages to hybrid working as well.

Keeping distances

It is important to maintain distances between workers when they do come into the place of work. This is due to the fact that COVID-19 can still spread from one employee to another if they are unaware that they are infectious when they enter the workplace.

Having your workforce contract COVID-19 can be a catastrophe for your business. It is, therefore, highly advisable that you do all you can to stop it from spreading from one individual to the next. A good way around this is to ask your employees to carry out a flow test before they come on-site to make sure that they are COVID-19 free.

Communal and workstations cleaned

Hire the services of a professional and high-quality janitorial service to keep your business premises clean and well sanitized so that your employees can feel safe and be able to concentrate on their work rather than spending time worrying about their and their colleague’s health problems will do wonders for your business.

Feeling at risk can cause a lot of distraction to employees, and a feeling that those in charge do not care about the health of the workers does not help the situation. By making sure that your employees’ work environment is cleaned regularly, especially shared workstations, and communal areas where contamination is more likely to happen, will keep your workforce feeling comfortable and safe while at work.

Plenty of sanitizing

With this in mind, it is a good idea to have plenty of hand sanitizing areas available for your employees to use and use regularly. Maybe it is a good idea to not only provide those communal sensor sanitizers for your employees, but also to make sure that they have their own dispensers on their workstations for their own personal use.

Encourage your employees to bring in their own cups or mugs for their coffee. This will not only cut down on the number of disposable plastic cups that your business uses from dispensing machines, but will also mean that there is less likely to be cross-contamination due to over-handling of business crockery. It would, therefore, not be unseemly to then ask your employees to take their crockery home with them at the end of their working day so that your business is not having to store employees’ crockery while they are not on site.
